Plaza Blanca Necklace
Plaza Blanca Necklace
In northern New Mexico stand 60 foot obelisks formed in the prehistoric miocene age and deformed over the ensuing ages to undulating columns of bone white and light tan sandstone with moments of shale and cobbles of volcanic rock.
After she viewed them, Georgia O'Keeffe made her home nearby and painted these towering formations. Their inspiration has been captured by native storytellers, Spanish priests, writers, and artists. This necklace takes forms suggested by the ebb and swell of the rising columns and the shadow of furrows along its rise.
1" wide, 3/4” deep and 16 3/4" long when closed
